BY-LAWS

ARTICLE I
TITLE
The name of this organization is the Oregon Junior Limousin Breeders (OJLB). The Oregon Junior Limousin Breeders is a division of the Oregon Limousin Breeders (OLB) and is a non-profit organization.
ARTICLE II
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Oregon Junior Limousin Breeders is to develop responsible and confident young people who learn to understand the values of the Limousin breed and are interested in showing and/or raising Limousin or Limousin-cross cattle.
ARTICLE III
MEMBERSHIP
- Qualification. Members of this association shall be young men and women who are not past their twenty-first (21st) birthday on January 1 of the current year. There is no minimum age limit to be a member. Oregon residency is not a requirement for membership
- Admission to membership. Application for current year membership may be made on a form provided by OJLB or on a sheet of paper. The application is to include: name, address, age, birth date, phone number, parent’s name, and e-mail address (if available).
- North American Limousin Junior Association (NALJA). Members do not need to be a member of NALJA to be an OJLB member. Members do need to be a member of NALJA if they show in a NALF or NALJA sponsored show.
ARTICLE IV
MEETINGS
1. Meetings. There will be one annual meeting per year with the place and time to coincide with the Oregon Limousin Breeders annual meeting at the Oregon State Fair.
2. Other meetings. There may be additional meetings during the year as determined by the members with the approval of the junior advisor. Such meetings are to coincide with Oregon Limousin Breeders meetings.
ARTICLE V
DUES
The dues for membership to OJLB will be set and approved by members of OLB. Dues are payable to OJLB and given to the OJLB junior advisor for deposit into the OJLB checking account to be used for OJLB purposes.
ARTICLE VI
OFFICERS
The officers shall consist of president, vice president, and secretary/treasurer from an active Oregon Junior member. The officers will be elected each year at the annual meeting.
- President’s duties. The president will preside at the OJLB meetings; represent OJLB at selected functions, and help conduct selected programs of OJLB or OLB.
- Vice President’s duties. Serve as president’s assistant and serve as President in the absence of the President.
- Secretary/Treasurer duties. Record minutes of OJLB meetings. Carry on all correspondence including correspondence that the president or junior advisor of OJLB or OLB may request. Advise members of upcoming meetings and other issues of interest. Assist the Junior Advisor or committee with the financial records.
ARTICLE VII
JUNIOR ADVISOR
Any Oregon Limousin Breeder member, from Oregon, in good standing may serve as the OJLB Junior Advisor or on a Junior Advisory Committee. The Junior Advisor will manage the finances of the association. OJLB members and the advisor welcome the advice and guidance of OLB members.
The junior advisor is to give the OJLB financial report at all OLB meetings.
All changes suggested by OJLB members’ member’s parents, or the Junior Advisor must be submitted before the OLB members at a meeting and approved by 2/3 votes of the attending members.
The Junior Advisor, Junior Advisory committee, OJLB member or parent will not be reimbursed for time, vehicle expense, lodging, food, etc. to attend meetings and functions of the OJLB.
The Secretary with the assistance of the junior advisor is to notify members of meeting places, dates and time by mail or e-mail to the addresses on the membership list. A notice is to be mailed or e-mailed to junior members addresses on file 20 days in advance unless an emergency meeting is being called.
ARTICLE VIII
FINANCE
- Fund raisers. All money that is raised by OJLB or OLB for junior members functions or shows, shall be held in a checking account titled Oregon Junior Limousin Breeders or Oregon Junior Limousin. The OJLB junior advisor and the OLB president (if not related) are to be co-signers on the account, but only one signature would be needed on a check.
- Fund raisers purpose. Money raised would be used for awards and/or premiums for the Oregon State Fair Junior Limousin show. The awards and/or premiums would be chosen by the Junior Advisor or committee and given after the show with time and place announced by the Junior Advisor.
- Financial records. The funds of OJLB will be deposited in such depository as is convenient to the Junior Advisor, and will be disbursed only by a check from the Junior Advisor or the OLB President (or other co-signer). The books of account and records of OJLB will be kept on an annual basis, opening on Jan. 1 and closing on December 31 of each year.
- Financial report. A financial report is to be given at all OLB meetings by the Junior Advisor or a representative if the Junior Advisor is unable to attend. The financial report is to be given at all OJLB meetings by the Secretary/Treasurer or by the Junior Advisor or representative if the Secretary/Treasurer is absent.
ARTICLE IX
CATTLE SHOWS
1. Show rules. All members of OJLB and non-members are to follow the rules set by the show committee of all junior cattle shows.
2. Oregon State Fair. For a junior exhibitor to receive any award and/or premium money at the Oregon State Fair Junior Limousin show, he/she must be a member of the OJLB. The member must pay the dues and fill out the application prior to showing their cattle on show day.
3. Showmanship classes. The show committee will set the ages for the showmanship classes, but most shows will be the following:
a. Peewee class ages will be any junior that has not reached his/her ninth (9th) birth date by the date set by the show committee.
b. Junior class ages will be any junior that is between nine (9) and twelve (12) years of age by the date set by the show committee.
c. Intermediate class will be any junior that is between thirteen (13) and fifteen (15) years of age by the date set by the show committee.
d. Senior class will be any junior that is 16 years and older that qualifies for being a junior member of OJLB.
4. Awards and/or premiums at the Oregon State Fair. The OJLB junior advisor is in charge of getting the awards for the Oregon State Fair Junior show. The advisor may appoint someone to assist. Award and premium total should not exceed one thousand ($1000.00) dollars unless there are special donations for the classes, divisions, grand champion, or reserve grand champion winners.
a. The Oregon State Fair book has the premium points and awards schedule listed under the Junior Limousin show. Premium points will be totaled for all of the member’s animals. Placing and premium money will be paid on this amount.
ARTICLE X
AMENDMENTS
Any member of OJLB, OJLB junior advisor, OJLB parent, or OLB member may suggest an amendment to the bylaws of OJLB. Suggestion(s) are to be made before the OLB members at an OLB meeting. Amendments to the OJLB by-laws must be passed by a 2/3 vote of the members present at a regular, annual, or special meeting of OLB.
